Barbara Ann Corcoran

Barbara Ann Corcoran was a speaker, investor, and businesswoman from the United States. In 2001, she launched The Corcoran Group in New York City. She later sold the business to NRT for $66 millions. In the following months she resigned from the business. Corcoran was among the first Shark Tank investors. She has appeared on every season of ABC's Shark Tank. Corcoran has signed 53 deals until February, 2020. Her largest deal was her $350,000 investment in Coverplay for 40%. Corcoran was the second in a family of 10 children and was raised in Edgewater. [8] Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was a bouncing from job to job throughout Corcoran's youth. At times, her family relied upon deliveries of food that was free from a local grocery store. Corcoran recalls her father being an intoxicated man who would sometimes treat her mother with condescension and disrespect, particularly after having consumed alcohol. Corcoran struggled with her education and was diagnosed with dyslexia. She went to the local Catholic elementary school, and then began high school at St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran was fluent in several classes during her freshman year. She was transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a grade of D.
